Rabbi Dov has been the spiritual leader of Congregation B'nai Israel since July 2015.  He originally came to CBI as Cantor & Director of Education in July 2013, from Temple Beth El of Portland, Maine, where he held a similar position. 


The son of a Conservative rabbi, he has a wealth of knowledge.  In addition to private cantorial studies and ordination from Rabbinical Seminary International, he has a Certificate in Judaic Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and has completed everything but the final chapters of a Ph.D. dissertation in Jewish Thought from the Jewish Theological Seminary.  He also has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, where he also studied voice and music theory, as well as two Masters degrees in Experimental Social-Personality Psychology from Columbia University.        


Throughout his career, Rabbi Dov has worked with all ages, from kindergarten through adult, in numerous synagogues, day schools, and adult education programs.  Among his previous positions, he served as Cantor & Educational Director for Congregation B’nai Tikvah in North Brunswick, Executive Director of the Commission for Jewish Education and Director of the Akiva Day School in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as Dean of Jewish Life and then Dean of Students & Residential Life at the American Hebrew Academy, a pluralistic, Jewish college preparatory boarding high school in Greensboro, North Carolina.


Rabbi Dov is married to Danielle Romanoff, a High School math teacher originally from Hillsdale, New Jersey, who is completing a Masters degree in Software Engineering.  They have seven children between the two of them; and at least two dogs.
